Dr. Sheila Stallings

Region 3

A Bit About Dr. Stallings

Dr. Sheila Stallings is a proud native of Raleigh, North Carolina, though born in Norfolk, Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University before returning to North Carolina to pursue her medical degree at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville. She completed her Family Medicine residency at McLeod Family Medicine Center in Florence, South Carolina.

Following residency, Dr. Stallings returned to her home state, dedicating 16 years to clinical outpatient care. Her work included primary care services, opioid treatment, and various community outreach health programs. In 2016, seeking better life-work balance to be more present for her young sons, she transitioned into the healthcare payer environment. This move allowed her to stay actively engaged in her children’s education and community activities.

Dr. Stallings joined Blue Cross NC in 2016 as an Associate Medical Director and now serves as a Team Lead Medical Director for the commercial market. She remains passionate about reducing healthcare disparities and frequently participates in community outreach initiatives.

Her interests include spending time with family, traveling, photography, and cheering on college basketball. Dr. Stallings is also an associate member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and continues to support local HBCU students as a “mom-away-from-home.”

She is the proud mother of two sons: Austin, a recent Howard University graduate (Class of 2025) with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry; and Bryson, a rising junior at Morehouse College. Dr. Stallings has been actively involved in Morehouse activities, including New Student Orientation and Parent/Family Weekend.

Inspired by Michelle Obama’s words—“HBCUs are critical to the future of our country, as they provide a unique space for African American students to thrive academically, socially, and culturally”— Dr. Stallings is honored to serve as your Region 3 Representative for the Morehouse College Parent Council. She is committed to supporting both parents and the Men of Morehouse in a way that uplifts this distinguished institution.
