A Bit About Gigi
Gigi Frye is the proud owner of College Connect 101, where for over 16 years she has helped hundreds of students and families successfully navigate the college admissions process. With a degree in Behavioral Science, she is deeply committed to ensuring students have the support they need not only to attend college but also to stay in college. Gigi has guided families through admissions, financial aid, and scholarship processes, helping secure opportunities that ease the burden of tuition and open doors to higher education.

Her passion for education extends into community leadership. She has served on the Board at St. Eugene’s School and took on a leading role at Loyola High School as President of the African American Parent Association, where she spearheaded major initiatives for the Black community on campus. Under her leadership, the association organized cornerstone events such as the Black History Month Luncheon and established the Loyola High School HBCU Fair, now a celebrated annual tradition. She also directed impactful fundraising efforts, strengthening schools and programs that provide vital opportunities for students and families.

At home, Gigi is most proud of her family. Her daughter, Kristen, graduated from Loyola Marymount University and earned a Master’s degree from Northwestern University; she now works in People and Culture at Warner Brothers Discovery. Her son, Christopher, is a freshman “Man of Morehouse” at Morehouse College, pursuing a Business degree with an interest in Finance. Her husband, Terrence Watkins, a Howard University graduate and proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has been her loving and steadfast supporter.
Although not an HBCU graduate herself, Gigi feels fully at home in HBCU culture. Surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues who represent these institutions, she finds joy in serving this community and ensuring that students of all backgrounds understand the importance and legacy of HBCUs
