Monica Challenger

Region 6

A Bit About Monica

Monica Challenger does not measure her commitment to Morehouse in words. She measures it in miles.

Over the past two years Monica has traveled to Atlanta and throughout the Midwest — showing up for Parents and Families Weekend, Admitted Students Weekend, New Student Orientation, Finals care package distributions, the Candle in the Dark Gala, and Commencement Weekend. When Morehouse calls, Monica answers. Every time. Without question.

But what sets Monica apart is not just her presence at events. It is what she does in between them. She has spent two years quietly and consistently building — strengthening regional parent connections, cultivating relationships with alumni, and going beyond the expected to create real opportunities for the families she serves. When a Region 6 student needed a summer internship connection, Monica made it happen. That is the kind of representative every region deserves and few are fortunate enough to have.

Her professional and civic leadership is equally remarkable. As President of the Cedar Rapids Public Library Board of Trustees, Vice President of Humanities Iowa, a leader within the Society of Women Engineers, and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Monica has spent decades building institutions, advocating for communities, and developing the next generation of leaders. Her executive leadership in nonprofit education organizations has sharpened her ability to think strategically while remaining deeply connected to the people she serves.

Monica Challenger is not running for this role to add something to her resume. She is continuing a commitment she made to this community two years ago and has honored every single day since. Region 6 is not just lucky to have her.

Region 6 is better because of her.
